Company profileOn the cross-over point of the international shipping lane Elbe and Kiel Canal in Wewelsfleth on the Stör river delta shipbuilding has a long tradition:
Up to the year 1757 shipbuilding activities can be retraced with up to four dockyards at the same time.
In 1871, the dockyard founded by Jürgen Peters competed finally against the other shipyards. In the 134 years long history of the dockyard in Wewelsfleth 680 new buildings were build. During the beginning of the dockyard in Wewelsfleth the typical timber constructions as herring luggers, galleasses, kuffs and pilot boats were built. Later with the beginning of the twentieth century the building of iron ships begun. Today ships up to a length of 135 metres and a width of 21, 70 metres are generated in the partial roofed new building plant.
The product line of Peters Schiffbau GmbH in the range of new building of containerships up to 900 KEU include multi-purpose carriers, special ships and mega yachts. In the important company section of repair and conversions, Peters Schiffbau is specialised on repairs of all kind, motor overhauls and class renewals, ship enlargements, ship conversions and retrofits. Two modern dry docks as well as slip plants and dock plants with adequate crane capacity as well as modern equipped workshops are available. Special ships from Wewelsfleth got well known and accepted by customers worldwide, due to a well engineered concept, economical and environment-friendly motorisation as well as innovative technology and construction.
